Tiger Woods on DUI arrest: ‘Alcohol was not involved’

Tiger Woods has spoken out about his DUI arrest over Memorial Day weekend, claiming he wasn’t under the influence of alcohol when cops pulled him over.

As Crime Online previously reported, Woods was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning near his home in Jupiter, Florida, after police stopped him for driving erratically. He reportedly refused a breathalyzer test and was booked briefly on a DUI charge before being released on his own recognizance.

Woods has since released a statement about the incident.

“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” Woods said in a statement obtained by ABC News. “What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”

Woods apologized for the incident, saying, “I expect more from myself, too.”

“I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.”

According to Forbes, Woods has several high-ticket endorsement deals with companies including Rolex and Nike Golf. None have yet publicly responded to the arrest.
