A 3-year-old disappeared from her Richardson, Texas, home on Oct. 7, and so far, she’s yet to be located. As additional clues emerge, police continue to piece the puzzle together, hoping to locate the missing girl.

Wesley Mathews, the 37-year-old man who adopted Sherin Mathews from India when she was infant, told police he made the little girl stand outside in her pajamas at 3 a.m. on Oct. 7 in the back yard area of his Richardson home off of the 900 block of Sunningdale, under a tree near an alley. Wesley reportedly told police he checked on his daughter 15 minutes later and noticed she wasn’t there. He then claimed he decided to do a load of laundry and wait for her to come home.

It took Mathews five hours from the time he noticed his daughter missing to call police and inform them. He was promptly arrested on child abandonment and neglect charges, but has since bailed out of jail. He now wears an ankle monitor while awaiting his next hearing.

Detectives reported that at around 4 a.m. on Oct. 7, someone took the family Acura MDX and drove it from the home, returning around an hour later. They don’t know who drove the SUV or where the SUV went to, since, according to CBS DFW, Wesley lawyered up and isn’t answering anymore questions. The child’s mother, who was supposedly asleep when the little girl disappeared, also lawyered up and has reportedly refused to cooperate with police.
