A Facebook Live video appears to show the moment a woman was shot in the arm by another woman on Chicago’s South Side.
Police said the unnamed 27-year-old woman was shot by someone she knew Tuesday afternoon in the Parkway Gardens housing project. WGN reported that the victim was streaming on Facebook Live when she got into an argument with a woman who was sitting in a car.
“This b***h got a gun, y’all,” the victim can be heard saying at the beginning of the video.
The suspect is heard repeatedly saying, “who gon’ smack me?” before the victim apparently smacks the vehicle and says, “f**k this car.” Seconds later, the woman in the car allegedly opens fire, wounding the victim in the arm before speeding off.
“She just shot me,” the victim says. “Call 911 she just shot me.”
Officials told the Chicago Tribune that the livestream was viral by Tuesday evening. Chief police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that detectives reviewed the video and are in a “good position in the investigation.”
Authorities reportedly know the suspect’s identity but she remains at-large. Police are also seeking a man who was allegedly in the car at the time of the shooting. Guglielmi told the Tribune that police are treating the shooting as a “domestic-related incident” and they don’t believe either suspect pose a threat to the public.
“At this point, we have no reason to suspect the video is not authentic,” the spokesman said.
“The victim in this case knows the offender and we are working to locate.”
Meanwhile, WGN reported that the victim was transported to the hospital Tuesday in stable condition.
