Authorities will announce formal charges against Chris Watts, suspected of murdering his wife and two daughters, in a press conference at 4 p.m. Central Time on Monday.
Fox 31 Denver reports that prosecutors will hold the press conference, which will be livestreamed on the local news outlet’s website, to announce what is expected to be multiple homicide charges against Shanann Watts’s husband and the father of her 3- and 4-year-old daughters.
According to the report, the charges are expected to include three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with a deceased body. The bodies of Shanann Watts, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and her two daughters were found at a property owned by Chris Watts’s former employer, Anadarko Petroleum. Watts was reportedly let go of his job on Wednesday, the same day he was taken into custody.
Authorities have not yet revealed the precise cause of death, but investigators reportedly believe the mother and children were killed at their home in Frederick. Shanann’s body was found in a shallow grave at the company property, and the bodies of the two little girls were reportedly placed in oil tanks.
An arrest affidavit containing further details about the alleged triple homicide is expected to be unsealed sometime after the formal charges are announced.
Chris Watts is currently being held without bond, and is due in court again on Tuesday.
