Florida McDonald’s Employee Shoots at Customers Who Complained About Order

A Florida McDonald’s employee was arrested last week after she was seen on store video chasing down customers and firing at their vehicle after they complained that their order was wrong.

In a Facebook post they titled “McMAYHEM,” Lakeland Police said they were called to a shooting at about 1 a.m. on Friday. Investigators said the incident began when the customers complained about their order and the employee, 22-year-old Chassidy Gardner, argued with them about it and then threw a drink at them as they were leaving.

“Two of the customers got out of their vehicle and opened the drive through window to throw drinks at Gardner who then armed herself with a handgun,” police said.

The customers drove away, but Gardner walked outside with her gun and fired at the vehicle as it was pulling out of the parking lot. The vehicle was struck at least once.

Police released two videos from store surveillance cameras, one showing the incident at the drive-thru window and the second showing Gardener walking outside and returning to the store, gun in hand.

Police charged Gardner with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to WOFL, a McDonald’s employee handbook does not mention weapons inside restaurants. Earlier reports say the company abides by state and local laws. In Florida, gun owners do not need a permit to purchase a firearm, a registration for a firearm, a license to own a firearm, or a permit to carry a rifle. Handguns require permits to carry.
