The search continues for a South Carolina man who reportedly vanished under suspicious circumstances on Thursday.
Zelig Williams, 28, was last seen leaving his Richland County home. WIS reported that the next day, a deputy discovered Williams’ car in a parking lot at the Palmetto Trail.
“Around 9:50 Thursday morning, he left just normally as he would. About ten minutes later, we received an SOS ping from his phone from one of his friends in New York, indicating a crash,” Williams’ aunt told WACH.
According to the news outlet, it was determined a crash had not occurred. Despite this, Williams has not been seen or heard from since.
Williams’ aunt said Williams had recently returned home after performing on Broadway. WACH reported that he was slated to teach a dance class later this month.
Williams was reportedly last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and brown slides. The Congaree River is located roughly 10 minutes from where his car was found on Friday.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott told WIS that the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is involved in the ongoing search. Lott said the case is being investigated as a missing person case that could involve foul play.
“We’ve searched on foot [and] in the air of various locations,” he commented. “Other investigative techniques that we will use involving cell phones and some other things that I don’t want to discuss at this point.”
Williams is reportedly in need of an undisclosed medication. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
