A Baytown, Texas, father who forced his 16-year-old daughter into prostitution was sentenced to 30 years in prison this week.
Scott Rodney Robinson, 46, pleaded guilty to aggravated compelling of prostitution, a first-degree felony. Robinson was arrested last June in an undercover sting orchestrated by the FBI and the Houston Police Department’s Vice Division, according to KPRC.
The victim told authorities that Robinson made her prostitute after he found out she was having sex, telling her if she was going to act like a prostitute then she might as well be one, according to a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle.
“He basically told her, ‘If you’re gonna be a whore, we’re gonna treat ya like one,'” Harris County District Attorney’s Office Sex Crimes Division chief JoAnne Musick commented, according to KTRK.
Robinson made his daughter prostitute at tractor-trailer rigs parked at truck stops. The 46-year-old forced her to service multiple customers each night and took any money she earned.
The Baytown man sold his daughter online—posting pictures of her in suggestive poses with phrases like “sexy and sweet,” “perfect girl,” “super clean,” and wants “to party.”
An anonymous tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to Robinson’s arrest. Court records revealed the tip supposedly included a link to an illicit escort advertisement posted on Backpage.com.
“The facts showed that Scott Robinson forced [his daughter] into the depths of the illegal sex industry,” Musick added. “His depravity earned him decades in state prison.”
CW33 reported that the victim’s stepmother and stepbrother are also facing charges for knowing about the incident. The stepbrother was allegedly arrested while driving the teen to a hotel.
