A so-called psychic in Ohio could have predicted that her clients would leave her poorer.
Gina B. Miller, 42, of Gina’s Psychic Studio in Mentor, pled guilty to aggravated theft in Lake County Common Pleas Court and will be sentenced in April. Police allege that she may have bilked a dozen people of $1.4 million in cash and property.
According to WKYC, Miller’s customers would give her their valuables in exchange for her promises to protect them from dark forces — and perhaps an unspoken threat to let those so-called dark forces get to them if they didn’t.
Miller could face as many as eight years in prison. The guilty plea follows an indictment that included 28 counts, including racketeering.
Fox 8 had earlier reported that Miller received cash, jewelry, gift cards, lines of credit and expensive vehicles from her victims. When police executed a search warrant at her business, they recovered $20,000 in cash. Victims were afraid to come forward because they believed that Miller had the power to bring harm to them and their families.
She was previously ordered to forfeit $24,000 in cash, Rolex watches, a diamond ring, designer purses, cell phones, computers and other items. At least 12 victims were named in the indictment, with many others too embarrassed to cooperate. For other victims, the statute of limitations had reportedly run out.
The so-called-psychic was first accused of wrongdoing in 2015 when an elderly woman said Miller stole from her. Police investigated her for more than a year and discovered the additional cases of theft.
Miller remains free on $150,000 bond until her April 27 sentencing.
