Osceola County, Florida, detectives are searching for a man who tried to grab a little girl at a local Walmart on Sunday.
CBS 47 reports that the incident occurred at the Walmart in Poinciana, at 904 Cypress Parkway. The suspect, described as a bald, Hispanic male in his 50s or 60s, spotted the 10-year-old girl in the parking lot and tried to lure her into his car. The girl screamed loudly and started running, which apparently spooked the suspect. He drove off in a 2008 red Pontiac sedan as the little girl ran into the store. He was wearing blue jeans and a red shirt with a motorcycle on the front.
The victim returned to her grandmother’s card to get a debit card they forgot to bring in the store with them. The grandmother was shopping inside the store when the incident occurred.
Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson held a press conference on Wednesday morning and warned that the man was likely dangerous to society, and should be apprehended immediately.
“He is a danger to our society, a danger to our children and we want to use every resource that we can to get this threat off of our street. Many times these suspects build up to this moment, they could be people looking at child porn and doing things like that and build up to this moment to where they actually put thoughts into actions….and that’s why it’s so dangerous.”
The sheriff added that what makes the suspect especially dangerous is that he was intent on and willing to take a child in broad daylight and in a public area in front of others.
