A nursing home employee is under investigation after allegedly posting a photo of an elderly patient with what appears to be dried feces on her hand.

According to KXAN, a man believed to work at an Austin, Texas, nursing home posted two photos to Snapchat of a sleeping female patient. The first showed the patient’s hand covered with what appears to be feces. A second photo shows someone tickling the woman’s nose with a foreign object, perhaps so she might reach up to her nose with her soiled hand.

A tipster reportedly sent the Snapchat photo to the news station. On the social media platform, the poster indicates he is a certified nursing assistant at the Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Duval.

A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services addressed the incident in a statement to KXAN:

This nursing facility has reported the incident to DADS [the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services] so we can investigate.

The facility tells DADS it has also reported the incident to police and has suspended the certified nurse aide pending an investigation. We are following up with the facility to make sure it takes all appropriate actions.
