The dead body of a man was found in a closet at an all-girl’s high school in New Jersey on Wednesday.
According to NJ.com, police got a call just before noon from the Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest after the body was discovered in an “old theater” space at the school that is adjacent to classrooms.
The 65-year-old man is believed to be a contractor for Cablevision. Police told NJ.com they did not believe he “had passed recently.”
The body is now at the medical examiner’s office where a cause of death will be determined. Police said they have not ruled out foul play though it does not appear to be a likely factor in the death.
Police also said that the discovery posed no threat to students at the private prep school.
“We assessed very quickly that the students were not in any type of danger,” Demarest Police Chief James Powderley told the news outlet.
Immediately following the discovery, the school issues a “hold in place” order, which prevents anyone from exiting or entering the school. The students were later brought to an assembly where school officials announced the situation and made counselors available.
