An Albuquerque man has admitted to raping a 15-year-old girl, a friend of his own daughter’s, at an alcohol-fueled party he threw for his daughter and her friends.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, Ben Richard Aguilar is accused of sexually assaulting the girl three times at a party where he provided alcohol to the high school teens. Aguilar reportedly confessed to the sexual assault and admitted the he recorded the attack before deleting the recording from his phone.
Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after the Children Youth and Families Department contacted police on a tip that an assault of a minor — believed to highly intoxicated at the time — had taken place several weeks before.
“Interviews revealed corroborating information of the assault and the party,” Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Felicia Romero said. “Detectives then made contact with the female victim’s parents and assisted with getting medical care for the injuries sustained from the assault.”
“What is noteworthy about this case is the fact that it was a delayed report from an anonymous source,” Romero continued. “Detectives were able to get a reluctant victim statement six weeks post-incident.”
According to the Albuquerque Journal, Aguilar has been charged with criminal sexual penetration and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
