A Tuscaloosa, Alabama, woman is behind bars after police say she shot at a car with another’s woman’s children inside, apparently over a messy house.
At around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, officers arrived at a home off of Sixth Street in Tuscaloosa, after someone called 911 to report gunfire. Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Capt. Kip Hart said when the officers pulled up, they saw two women in a dispute after a physical altercation. One woman was identified as Anquetta Lewis, 20. The name of the other woman is unknown.
As the women separated, Lewis began screaming at her adversary about her house being messy, while threatening to shoot her. It’s unknown if the women were roommates. The other woman gathered her four young children, ages 3, 4, 5 and 6, and put them in their car. Lewis walked towards the car with a handgun and fire one shot directly at the vehicle. No one was injured during the shooting.
Lewis was arrested and charged with “discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.” Officers indicated that additional charges could follow. She’s currently behind bars at the Tuscaloosa County Jail with a $150,000 bail amount.
The story is still developing.
