Two Georgia teenagers are suspects in the slaying of the girl’s grandmother and grandfather, who were both found dead Sunday in their Gwinnett County home.
According to WSB-TV 2, Randall and Wendy Bjorge were found beaten to death in their home Sunday morning.
“The family members hadn’t heard from them in about a week, so they’ve been calling,” David Smith, with the Gwinnett County Police Department, told the news station. “We’ve been out to the location before to make contact. This time, we actually entered the home.”
Investigators quickly ruled out murder-suicide, and sought the victims’s granddaughter, Cassie Bjorge, 17, and her boyfriend, Johnny Ryder, 19, for questioning. Police had reportedly earlier responded to an assault call involving Ryder about a mile and a half away from the Bjorge’s home, and found a car belonging to the couple.
After an hourslong manhunt, police reportedly found the teenagers hiding out in a an apartment complex, where they are believed to have attempted suicide — after a police standoff, the suspects emerged with self-inflicted wounds, and are being treated at a local hospital.
A motive for the apparent murder is not yet known.
