Police are asking for the public’s help in searching for a young woman who vanished earlier this week.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Janet Mejia, 28, who lives in the Foothill Farms area of Sacramento County, was last seen leaving her home. Her roommate reported her missing on Tuesday evening,
Police found Mejia’s car on Wednesday, about a 15 minute drive from where she lives.
Ed Mills, vice president for Student Affairs at Sacramento State, told the Sacramento Bee that the young woman earned a degree in American Sign Language and deaf studies from the university last year.
“We are all extremely concerned for her and hope she is safe and will be found very soon,” Mills said.
Mejia’s family reportedly said it was very unusual for her to be out of contact for this long.
Janet is described as about five feet tall and weighing 120 to 125 pounds, Hispanic, with long dark hair and brown eyes. When she was last seen, she was wearing a black sweatshirt with the word “PINK” written across it.
Anyone with information regarding Mejia’s whereabouts is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
