Teen girl tortured, forced to stand half-naked in snow before stabbing death: Police

The murder suspect, also a teen girl, said she would see her in hell

A 15-year-old girl was tortured and stabbed to death by alleged gang members, who reportedly believe she had been involved in the death of one of the teen suspect’s boyfriend.

According to NBC News, that suspect, 17-year-old, Venus Romero Iraheta is being tried as an adult. Nine other suspects are charged in the murder, and several have not been identified as they are minors.

Damaris Alexandra Reyes Rivas, 15, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was found stabbed to death in an industrial park in February about a month after she went missing.

NBC News reports that officials described her killing in court, claiming that the suspects kidnapped and tortured the teen before stabbing her multiple times. Iraheta reportedly confessed to inflicting some of the stab wounds that killed Rivas.

According to the account from law enforcement officials, Reyes Rivas had left home in December, telling her mother she was being threatened by gang members at school. Authorities say the suspects took her in a car to Lake Accotink in Springfield, Virginia on January 8.

There, she was allegedly assaulted and forced to stand in the snow with no shirt or shoes on. The group then reportedly took her to an area under and interstate overpass, and forced her to stand in frigid water.

According to court documents obtained by NBC News, authorities believe the alleged killers suspected the teen of aiding the people who murdered Iraheta’s boyfriend, Christian Sosa Rivas, whose body was found on January 12. He is believed to have died before then.

The suspects reportedly interrogated Reyes Rivas about Sosa Rivas’s murder while she was forced to stand in snow and frigid water.

FBI Special Agent Fernando Uribe reportedly testified in court that Iraheta spoke a chilling message to the victim before she died.

“She told her she would never forgive her and told her she would see her in hell,” Uribe said in court.

Irehata went missing for nearly a month a few days after Reyes Rivas died. She was taken into custody after she returned to her Alexandria-area home on her own.
