An Ohio father is accused of child neglect after authorities say he went on a drunken rampage at a Walt Disney World resort while his young son suffered first-degree burns from the sun.
On May 14, Brian Keith Olmstead allegedly used his child’s stroller to push through crowds at Disney’s Art of Animation resort. As he plowed through, he allegedly shouted racial slurs, WKMG reported, sourcing an arrest affidavit.
The resort said they received 11 complaints about Olmstead in just 4 hours.
Olmstead, who began his day at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports for a cheerleading competition, returned to the resort around 3:30 p.m. Once there, he arrived at a poolside bar and drank himself into “a state of intoxication,” WKMG reported. His young son sat in a stroller next to him.
Olmstead was escorted back to his room but soon returned to a food court area at the resort and began threatening people with violence, authorities allege.
Police were then called to the scene, where they found Olmstead’s son sitting in a dirty diaper with badly sunburned legs and feet. Paramedics reportedly said the boy suffered first-degree burns, which they believe will turn into second-degree burns because they were turning purple.
Olmstead, 35, was arrested for neglect of a child and disturbing the peace at a public lodging.
While being transported to the Orange County jail, he allegedly called an officer names and said Donald Trump was going to kill him, WKMG reported.
Olmstead made his first court appearance on Monday and was later released from custody after posting a $2,200 bond.
