A video is going viral online that appears to show a San Antonio police officer striking a teen girl at least twice in the face.
MySA reports that the brief video was taken by a witness on Saturday at a teen girl’s quinceanera party. A 14-year-old girl at the party approached an officer, whose twice her size. It’s unclear what happened to make the officer strike her but the video showed him hitting her directly in the face while her mother screamed in the background as the ordeal unfolded.
According to the child’s attorney, the 8th grader was arrested for assaulting a public servant and placed in the Bexar County Juvenile Detention facility. The child’s lawyer, however, said that the girl never struck the officer and that video “clear as day” shows the officer punching her in the face.
Bexar CountyPolice Chief William McManus issued a statement on Monday night, stating that the details surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
“Per SAPD policy, the events leading up to the arrest of the juvenile for assaulting a public official is being investigated to ensure compliance with Department policies.”
