Tiger Woods was asleep at the wheel during DUI stop, thought he was in Los Angeles

Tiger Woods was passed out in his Mercedes before cops arrested him on suspicion of DUI in Jupiter, Florida, on Memorial Day.

According to the most recent report about his arrest from CNN, Woods’s car was on the side of the road not far from his Jupiter home, showing what appeared to be fresh damage on the driver’s side. The engine was reportedly running and a blinker was on, but the driver had to be roused when police approached the driver. Some of the tires appeared to be flat.

The latest report contradicts an earlier report from TMZ that Woods was driving erratically when cops pulled him over.

According to the CNN report, his speech was slurred and he initially did not appear to know where he was — claiming, at first, that he was coming back from golfing in Los Angeles.

Contrary to earlier reports, the CNN report says that Woods did submit to a breathalyzer test, and that it did not detect alcohol in his system. This appears to corroborate the golf star’s earlier claim that prescription drugs, not alcohol, were behind the DUI stop.

As Crime Online previously reported, Wood released a statement on Tuesday apologizing for the incident and denying that he was drunk at the time.

“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” Woods said in the media statement. “What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.”

Woods was briefly booked into a Palm Beach jail but released just a few hours later on his own recognizance, and without having to post bail.

Woods is set to appear in court on July 5.
