A woman jogging in the Lake Balboa area of Los Angeles was attacked and robbed on Thursday evening by a man wielding a knife. Authorities are still looking for the suspect.
ABC 7 reports that the victim was jogging close to Burbank Boulevard near Woodley Avenue when, a little after 8 p.m., a man approached her while carrying a large knife and demanded that she hand over her cellphone. The suspect then grabbed the cellphone, threw the victim in a bush, and jumped on top of her.
The victim, whose name is disclosed, began screaming loudly, which startled the suspect. He got off of her and fled, although authorities aren’t sure if he fled on foot or got into a vehicle. According to the police report, the suspect “took property” from the victim, but it’s still unclear if anything else aside from the cellphone was taken.
The victim suffered a few minor cuts to her hands and other non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are calling the incident a robbery and attempted sexual assault. The only description of the attacker so far is that he is a male in his 30s.
Anyone with any information is urged to call the police immediately.
