A newlywed man is spending his honeymoon in jail after he was accused of choking his new bride immediately after their wedding.

According to a police report obtained by WJAC 6, John Delozier allegedly attacked his new wife, choking her, after the couple got into a fight about wedding gift money.

His new wife reportedly got angry when he wanted to stash away some of the money they were given by wedding guests.

The police report states that Delozier, 31, accused his wife of only caring about money before violently choking her.

The suspect then fled the scene, but was later apprehended by police. He was taken to jail and remains in custody after failing to post 10 percent of his $40,000 bail, the minimum to be released on bond.

The alleged victim has not been identified.
