An 83-year-old Texas homeowner showed that age wouldn’t stop him from protecting himself when a young intruder broke into his Redbird area home on Sunday.
Dallas News reports that the incident happened off of the 900 block of Glen Oaks Boulevard, when a 21-year-old man, identified as Robert Facundo, entered the elderly man’s home and refused to leave. Facundo reportedly began threatening the homeowner and inching towards him. Fearing for his life, the homeowner grabbed his gun and shot the intruder in the leg.
Authorities took the suspect to a local hospital for treatment. He was later sent to the Lew Sterrett Justice Center. It’s still unclear what he was formally charged with.
Police said the homeowner is safe, with no injuries. He told authorities that he feared for his life and shot the suspect for his own safety.
