Man accused of raping and strangling his friend’s 11-year-old daughter, allegedly chased after her when she tried to run away

Police have arrested a man and accused him of raping and strangling his friend’s 11-year-old daughter, according to Bangkok Post.

Rayong police announced on Friday that Wichai Chotsena, 58, admitted to accidentally killing the child, whose naked body was later discovered in a wooded area. Authorities believe the man killed the tween after she attempted to flee. In other words, he is believed to have chased her on foot.

The victim’s father reported his young daughter missing on Tuesday evening after she didn’t come home for several hours. Authorities said her body was found in a Thailand forest on Wednesday night.

The 58-year-old man is said to have met the girl outside of her school on Tuesday night. Instead of taking her home, however, the construction worker allegedly took his friend’s daughter to a nearby town and raped her, according to a police investigation.

During questioning, Chotsena claimed the 11-year-old fell off of his motorcycle. He said the fall killed her, and denied sexually abusing the little girl, according to Major General Traisoon Niamsap.

The suspect did admit to taking off the 11-year-old’s school uniform while dumping her lifeless body, in order to hide who she was or where she came from.

It is unclear what, or if, charges were filed against the Thai man.

Police are awaiting autopsy results, which will provide the 11-year-old’s official cause of death.

This is the second disturbing case Thai police have encountered this week.

On Wednesday, a Kalasin music teacher was accused of sexually abusing his 11-year-old student and threatening to shoot her if she told authorities, according to Bangkok Post. Chayakorn Wongkhamharn, 46, has denied following the girl into a classroom, punching her in her stomach, and raping her, however.

The 46-year-old turned is charged with sexually assaulting a minor and depriving her of parental care.
