A four-year-old girl has died after a houseboat backed into her, catching her in its propellors. Her father lost his legs trying to save her.
According to KXXV, Katlyn Oliver was playing in the water at Lake Belton in Temple, Texas, Friday evening when a houseboat backed into her. She reportedly became caught up in the houseboat’s propellors and suffered severe lacerations.
Her father reportedly tried to rescue the little girl, but his legs were amputated by the propellor.
Katlyn was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her father remains hospitalized in serious condition on Saturday.
The driver of the boat, Jason Bernal, was arrested and remains in custody pending charges as police continue to investigate the accident.
