A Las Vegas man is behind bars for reportedly having sex with a deceased woman in a flower planter box on Thursday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that authorities found the dead victim, who had no identification and appeared to be homeless, near a church off of W. Charleston Blvd., at around 4:30 p.m. A witness told police that Martinez had sex with the victim inside a flower planter close to an abandoned restaurant.

Authorities arrested Martinez and charged him with one count of unlawful sexual penetration of a dead body. The police report indicated that Martinez told officers that the victim was still alive when the act took place. However, a coroner’s report determined that the victim had been dead for two to four hours prior to the incident.

The victim, who was around 35 years old, was at a local hospital the night before she died. Martinez claimed he met her at the hospital. It’s still unclear why she was there or how she died.

Martinez was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he’s currently being held without bail.
