Multiple fatal 4th of July shootings in New York City as one victim still clings to life

It was a violent Fourth of July in New York City this year, as a veteran NYPD officer was shot and killed in a targeted police attack, while a Queens resident was shot to death during the Macy’s Fireworks display.

NBC News reports that a 35-year-old man is clinging to life after he was shot in Astoria around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. The victim was shot in the head and the back, and the suspect is still on the loose.

The two men reportedly got into an argument Vernon Boulevard and 40th Avenue before the suspect shot at the victim.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, is reportedly in critical condition at a local hospital.

And early Wednesday morning, a man and a woman were killed at a house party elsewhere in Queens. According to DNAInfo, a 27-year-old woman was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, and a 28-year-old man was shot in the back and died at the hospital. Another unidentified man was injured in the shooting and remains in the hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in the Queens house party shooting.
