A Texas man got locked in an ATM room on Wednesday, and slipped notes through the receipt slot saying he was stuck in the room without a phone, and neededsomeone to call his boss.
Corpus Christi police arrived on scene after some saw the note and called them, but at first, authorities thought it was a prank. They soon discovered it was true, and eventually had to kick down a door to get the man out.
Corpus Christi Senior Police Officer Richard Olden told KRIS – TV that witnesses also thought it was a prank.
“We come out here, and sure enough we can hear a little voice coming from the machine. So we are thinking this is a joke. It’s got to be a joke.”
The man was a contractor sent to replace a lock inside the room that connects to a local Bank of America ATM. He left his phone in his truck and got unexpectedly locked inside the small room around 2:00 p.m. The ATM still functioned, so he decided to slip notes out of the receipt slot.
“Please help I’m stuck in here and I don’t have my phone please call my boss” the note said, with a phone number and name.
“Everyone is okay, but you will never see this in your life, that somebody was stuck in the ATM; it was just crazy,” Olden said.
It is unclear how long the man was stuck in the room. He has not been identified.
