A Bay City, Michigan, man has been charged with two felonies following sexual encounters with underage girls.
Twenty-one-year-old Spencer C. Wells is accused of having sex with two 15-year-old girls that he reportedly met through his little brother, reports MLive. Court records show Wells has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct and was arraigned on the charges on Monday, July 17.
Allegedly, Wells had intercourse with one of the victims in his car on December 31, 2016, in the parking lot of a Kmart store. The second victim stated she had sex with Wells on February 23 in the parking lot of a manufacturing company. MLive reports the acts occurred in parked vehicles.
One of the victims came forward after Wells gave her a ride home from a party and allegedly kicked her out of the car in an area where she didn’t live. She then called her parents, which eventually led to them calling law enforcement.
The age of consent is 16 in Michigan. According to the Michigan Penal Code, “A person is guilty of (criminal sexual conduct in the third degree if the person engages in sexual penetration with another person and if any of the following circumstances exist: That other person is at least 13 years of age and under 16 years of age.”
Wells was released on a personal recognizance bond and has been ordered to not have any contact with the victims in the cases. Wells is scheduled to appear for a preliminary examination on Wednesday, August 2 at 3 p.m.
If found guilty, Wells faces a maximum of 15 years in prison on each count.
