Police have arrested a Pennsylvania man and accused him of molesting two young girls, ages 8 and 10, and raping the older one, according to The Times-Tribune.
Juan Alberto Martinez, 45, was originally charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault, corruption of minors, and terroristic threats, as he claimed to have fondled the girls and refrained from mentioning intercourse. Following recent allegations, in which one of the girls alleged that he raped her, authorities rearrested Martinez on Wednesday and charged him with rape of a child.
The 10-year-old said Martinez put his hand in her pants, hurting her. The 8-year-old claimed Martinez did the same thing. However, on that occasion, police said the 10-year-old saw it and tried to stop him. The 8-year-old stated that the suspect also exposed himself twice and instructed her to touch his genitals.
The Taylor man allegedly told the 10-year-old girl “I will kill you if you tell anybody,” The Times-Tribune also reported.
Martinez was first arrested on June 18, after the young girls told family members what allegedly occurred. During a second interview with police, however, the 10-year-old said that the 45-year-old had raped her.
According to an affidavit, the young girl described how she bled during the traumatic ordeal. She also alleged that Martinez washed the bloodied sheets and comforter afterward. The suspect allegedly told the victim not to tell anyone and to say she got hurt by a baseball if anyone was to ask about her injuries.
Magisterial District Judge Alyce Farrell increased Martinez’ bail from $150,000 to $500,000. He is currently being held in the Lackawanna County Prison.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
