A Palm Beach, Florida, woman suddenly died from complications of giving birth to twins. The young mother’s tragic death comes weeks after the children’s father was fatally shot, as reported by WPTV.
Stephanie Caceres’ 2-year-old daughter, as well as the two newborns, are left without a mother or father. A GoFundMe revealed that Cacares gave birth to twins on July 14—three days after their children’s father, Jevaughn Suckoo, 26, was murdered.
“The fact that my kids have to grow up without their father is killing me…I’m trying I really am to stay strong but this has to be the toughest battle I’ve ever had to fight,” she wrote on Facebook.
Caceres, 24, developed an infection and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, where she died on July 26. The death occurred just hours after Suckoo was laid to rest.
“Like everything Stephanie did in life, she battled hard for 10 days. On July 26th, the almighty also decided to call to heaven another angel,” the fundraiser reads. “However, Jevaughn Jr. and Lailah at least had the opportunity to bond with their mother for 4 days before she too was gone.”
The woman’s family told WPTV that the complications were caused by a C-section performed while birthing the twins.

“She always told me that she had a dream of taking care of me because I have diabetes. And she always told me ‘mom, I’m going to take care of you,’ not knowing that I’m going to be taking care of her kids,” Caceres’ heartbroken mother, Irma Meza, said in Spanish.
Police have yet to make an arrest in connection with Suckoo’s murder. The 26-year-old was shot to death inside a gated apartment complex in West Palm Beach. Authorities haven’t revealed a motive.
“I want the killer to know, make no mistake, we’re going to find you,” the victim’s father, Dwight Suckoo, told reporters.
The grandparents intend to care for the three young children. The GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $23,000 of their $50,000 goal as of Friday night.
