More details are emerging after actor and singer, Tom Wopat, best known for his role as Luke Duke in the classic TV series, The Dukes of Hazzard, was arrested on Wednesday for indecent assault and drug possession.
On Wednesday, authorities in Waltham, Massachusetts, arrested Wopat after a female co-worker claimed that he groped her on the set of a production of the musical, 42nd Street. According to the victim, Wopat first groped her backside, then “put his fingers between her butt cheeks.” Reportedly, one of the supervisors confronted Wopat after the woman complained, and not only did Wopat deny it, but he also reportedly said, “F**** them all.”
Apparently, Wopat had already been accused of harassment by two other workers on the set of the production. One woman said that Wopat crept up behind her and put his arms around her waist, while another said he pulled peeling skin from her arm. Wopat denied harassing the women, but did say he lightly touched one woman on the hip and told her,”I like the way you work.”
When Waltham police found Wopat on Wednesday night, they discovered two white baggies in his black Ford Bronco that they said looked to be cocaine.
During his arraignment on Thursday morning, Wopat pleaded not guilty and was released on $1,000 bail. He’s expected to perform on Thursday’s opening night of the 42nd Street production in Waltham.
