A suspected carjacker who was caught on video asking his victim to help him start the car he stole from her has been apprehended.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Kentrell Dabney on Monday, less than two weeks after the suspect was seen on gas station video surveillance stealing a car from a woman. He reportedly first approached her as she was leaving the convenience store, asking her if she had any spare change.
CrimeOnline previously obtained the footage, which shows the suspect pointing a gun at the woman as she hands over her purse and other personal belongings.the victim is seen quickly walking away from the car, but the suspect beckons her back. He reportedly couldn’t figure out how to operate the push-start engine.
Dabney was reportedly taken into custody on Monday and is being held at the Fulton County Jail on charges he hijacked a vehicle. CBS 46 reports that he was denied bond, and is due in court on August 22.
The car has since been recovered.
