On Thursday afternoon, a 2-day-old baby was reportedly removed from the apartment building where Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind disappeared.
Fargo police Chief David Todd revealed in a video statement Thursday that a newborn was found in an apartment they were searching. He claimed that they are unable to confirm whether the child belongs to the missing 22-year-old. The Fargo woman is due to have her first child in late September, according to reports.
Police roped off and evacuated the North Fargo apartment building at around 3 p.m. Thursday.
“Yesterday, we were able to develop some information that led to a search warrant which was conducted today. When we conducted the search warrant at the suspect residence, we discovered an infant that appears to be a newborn infant,” a statement released on the Fargo Police Department’s Facebook page revealed.
Chief Todd also revealed that they currently have two people contained for questioning.
“This is at a critical juncture of the investigation and we want to make sure we are as thorough as possible so we can get correct answers to all the questions people have.”
Despite this development, he added that they “do not have information that tells us where Savanna Greywind is.”
A sister-in-law of LaFontaine-Greywind’s mother, Tarita Silk, supposedly told The Forum News Service that the child was healthy and taken to the hospital. Silk also claimed the newborn belonged to LaFontaine-Greywind.

This news comes hours after authorities officially announced that they were treating the mother-to-be’s disappearance as a criminal investigation.
Earlier today, the police department wrote that they have “no concerns” that Dawn Kirby was involved with LaFontaine-Greywind disappeared. As CrimeOnline reported today, Kirby, a registered sex offender, was accused of being the woman who lured LaFontaine-Greywind into an upstairs apartment to try on a dress.
LaFontaine-Greywind was last seen at her North Fargo apartment building Saturday afternoon. The 22-year-old is described as 5-foot-4 inches tall, with green eyes and long brown hair, and having tattoos on her right leg and foot. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt, shorts, and Nike slip-on sandals.
Anyone with information about Savanna Lafontaine-Greywind’s whereabouts is urged to call the Fargo Police Department at 701-235-4495.
