Police said a Florida man arrested on drug trafficking charges tried to hide more than $1,000 in his rectum.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO) said Pattreon Stokes, 26, was pulled over for speeding early Saturday morning. After smelling marijuana, officers allegedly recovered rock cocaine, 197 grams of methamphetamine, and 4 grams of heroin from Stokes’ car. Officers also reportedly located a scale in the suspect’s vehicle.
The Florida man had a 7-month-old with him in the front seat when pulled over for speeding, according to police.
Authorities noted that Stokes had a large sum of money on him during his arrest, but not when he arrived at the Marion County Jail. The 26-year-old supposedly told detention deputies that someone had already confiscated the money, which police said was a lie.
“Detention deputies then noticed something quite unusual…they observed $20.00 bills falling from Stokes’ buttocks area,” the sheriff’s office detailed in a Facebook post on Monday. “After a necessary but undesirable process for everyone involved, MCSO Detention Deputies located $1,090.00 in US currency hidden in Stokes’ rectum.”
Stokes is charged with smuggling contraband into a detention facility, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug equipment.
“Judging from Stokes’ mug shot, he looks pretty ‘bummed’ about the whole situation,” the sheriff’s office quipped.
The 26-year-old posted bond and was released from jail later the same day, according to the Palm Beach Post.
