A former art teacher at an Arkansas high school is accused of having sex with four students.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that Jessie Lorene Goline, 25, allegedly took two of the students to her apartment to have sex on the same day.
Goline admitted to school officials that she had inappropriate contact with the four students. However, she claimed that she believed one of the students was 18 but ended up being “way younger than what he had told her,” an affidavit detailed.
Authorities said the assaults occurred between January and April of 2016. Three of the victims were students in the Marked Tree School District and one attended school in the East Poinsett County School District.
Marked Tree police began investigating in April, after a parent threatened to “do bodily harm” to Goline and accused her of having sex with multiple students, according to KAIT.
Court documents alleged that she would send texts to students “which became more and more sexual in nature.”
A victim claimed the art teacher sent him illicit text messages, including a photo of herself in a thong. He said she “texted him that she would like to have sex with him but he was too young,” the local station reported.
Another victim who took Goline’s class said she picked him up one afternoon and took him to her Jonesboro apartment to have sex. Goline allegedly took the student back to Marked Tree High School later that day.
Matt Wright, the school’s principal, alerted the superintendent and was in the process of contacting the Arkansas Crimes Against Children hotline when Goline allegedly burst into the office crying.
Wright reportedly asked Goline if there was anything she needed to tell him, to which she replied, “I’m not going to lose my husband.”
Goline was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault. Prosecutors said a single charge was filed because only one of the students was underage at the time.
KAIT reports that the former teacher was released from jail Wednesday afternoon. Her next court appearance is scheduled for October 31.
