BREAKING: Arrest made in murder of Massachusetts second-grade teacher

The husband of a second-grade teacher found dead in her Revere, Massachusetts, home on Saturday afternoon has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Boston Globe reports that Andrew MacCormack, 29, has been charged in the death of his wife, Vanessa MacCormack, 30.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Vanessa was a popular second grade teacher at Connery Elementary School in Lynn.

According to the latest report in the Boston Globe, Andrew called 911 on Saturday and police arrived to the couple’s home to find Vanessa unresponsive.

A medical examiner’s report obtained by the newspaper found that Vanessa suffered “blunt force injury to the head, sharp force injuries to the neck, and asphyxiation.”

“Evidence suggested that the killer made concerted efforts to clean up the crime scene and dispose of related items,” the report states.

Investigators believe that Vanessa died as a result of domestic violence.

“Prosecutors and police detectives have worked literally around the clock since Saturday afternoon to solve Vanessa’s murder,” Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said in a statement.

“The evidence suggests that her murder was a crime of domestic violence, committed in the very place where she should have been safest — her own home.”

Vanessa had a young daughter, believed to have been born in late 2016. Her last public Facebook post, from 2015, is a photo of her and her husband on the porch of what appears to be a new home.

The most recent public post on a Facebook page appearing to belong to the murdered woman’s husband is a photo of him holding a newborn baby.

Police have not revealed any additional information regarding a possible motive.

CrimeOnline will provide an update when more information becomes available.
