A Mount Holly, New Jersey, woman has reportedly admitted to luring a 17-year-old girl to a motel, drugging her, and forcing her to work as a prostitute for 10 days.
NJ.com reported that Adria Regn, 28, pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree conspiracy to facilitate human trafficking. Regn, along with her boyfriend, Christopher White, 19, are accused of luring the teen to a Burlington County motel in October by asking her to babysit Regn’s two young children.
Instead, Regn and White allegedly forced the 17-year-old to take methamphetamine and have sex with several men each day. The pair also threatened to beat the victim if she left, according to WPVI.
During the ordeal, the couple supposedly told the girl must work as a prostitute to financially support Regn’s two children. They also allegedly took various pictures of her, some nude, and posted them to a site that advertises escorts.
Authorities told the Associated Press that White knew the victim. Regn and White are accused of taking all the money that men paid to have sex with the teen.
The local station reported that the teen escaped after the couple fell asleep.
The pair reportedly accepted a 20-year plea deal earlier this month. However, it is unclear why Regn’s recommended sentence was decreased to five years. The 28-year-old was originally facing various charges, including human trafficking of a minor, organized street crime, promotion of prostitution. Each charge would’ve landed her behind bars for more than five years if convicted, NJ.com also noted.
White, whose charges are still pending, is expected to appear in court next week. Regn’s sentencing is scheduled for January 5.
