Multiple fights—and a baby getting hit with a shoe—forced police to shut down one Alabama mall a half hour early Thursday night.
WBRC reporter Steffany Means took to Facebook and revealed that someone threw a shoe over a railing, striking a baby. About 15 Hoover police officers responded to the Riverchase Galleria, following reports of multiple brawls breaking out in the same mall where the baby was possibly injured.
WBRC reported that officers also responded to reports of shots fired near a Macy’s parking lot an hour before the massive fight. Police ultimately determined there was no evidence of gunfire.
According to Al.com, one fight involving two girls at the Hoover shopping center was caught on tape and posted to social media. The video, which can be viewed above, apparently shows two girls and a security guard rolling around on the ground.
Police said that no one was arrested in connection with that altercation. They believe the fights were personal in nature and had nothing to do with Black Friday sales.
No one was hospitalized Thursday but paramedics reportedly treated one person at the scene for minor injuries suffered in the fight.
The mall was shut down at 11:20 p.m. instead of midnight. The mall reopened at 6 a.m. Friday without incident.
“As previously reported, Hoover Police will have extra officers on site at our retail areas throughout the holiday season to ensure the safety and security of the patrons and stores in our city,” Hoover police Lieutenant Keith Czeskleba said in a statement early Friday.
