Authorities in California say an elderly man shot his daughter’s boyfriend in a domestic disturbance on Thanksgiving.
According to the San Bernardino Sun, 80-year-old Wallace Thomas was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder this week at his home in an unincorporated area of Fontana.
A statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office indicates deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the home shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arriving at the residence, deputies reportedly discovered the shooting victim, a 63-year-old man from Palmdale, lying in the backyard.
According to KABC, the man identified as Lydell Gordon was transported from the scene to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with traumatic injuries caused by multiple gunshot wounds. He remained in the hospital as of the latest reports available.
Hospital officials did not release his latest condition to local media.
Officials say the victim was dating Thomas’ daughter and the two men got into an argument prior to the shooting.
Reports did not provide details about the nature of the dispute.
After an initial investigation, deputies executed a search warrant at Thomas’ home, according to the Fontana Herald News.
Investigators reportedly found a gun registered to Thomas inside the home. He was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center.
