A homeless man searching for warmth and shelter Thursday was reportedly run over by an 18-wheeler.
KTRK reports that the man had been lying under an empty trailer located in the loading dock area of a Houston Sam’s Club. He used a wheelchair and kept it nearby while he slept in the relative warmth of the trailer. A semi-truck reportedly hitched itself onto that empty trailer early Thursday and ran over the man before he could get out the way.
Workers at the dock reportedly screamed for the driver to stop after hearing moans from the injured man. The man, whose legs were run over, was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.
At the scene, The Houston Chronicle spotted a wheelchair that appeared to be crushed by the massive truck.
