A Louisiana man is behind bars after he reportedly beat a teen girl mercilessly with a belt and shaved her hair off after she downloaded the social media app, Snapchat, on her phone.
The Natchez Democrat reports that authorities arrested Alex Harrison, 30, of Ferriday, on Monday after he allegedly posted a video to Facebook that showed him hitting a 14-year-old girl numerous times on her backside and legs with a belt. The suspect was apparently upset that the girl downloaded Snapchat while at school.
“She wanna be grown, she getting her a** whooped n her hair bald. School is for work not f****** Snapchat. She ain’t got no business with no damn snap anyway. Stay tuned,” Harrison yelled at the beginning of the video.
Another unknown person recorded the incident and encouraged Harrison to continue. Afterward, the suspect took the teen to the kitchen of his home, where he shaved her hair off while she wept and put her hands over her face.
“You want to be grown? This is what it means to be grown!”
The viral video made its way back to authorities, and after reviewing it, Detective Richard Madison of the Ferriday Police Department said they determined the incident was considered child abuse. The detective wouldn’t confirm the suspect’s relationship to the teen since she’s under the age of 18 and still a minor.
“After reviewing the video, from my experience in the business, we determined the child was abused.”
