Police say a former Arizona State University football player and a woman were found dead inside an apartment on Friday.
Brock Haman, 24, and Veronica Birk, 25, were found dead inside the apartment by police when they conducted a welfare check. AZ Central reports that the two were both found in the bathroom. Police described them as being acquaintances.
Birk’s mother, who lives out of state, requested the welfare check after she hadn’t heard from her daughter in a week.
A statement issued by Sgt. Ben Hoster on Saturday said the two seemed to have been dead for a while. Evidence surrounding the bodies suggested their deaths were drug-related, according to Fox 10 Pheonix.
A cause of death has not been released for either Haman or Birk. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and release a ruling on the causes of death.
Police say there are no suspects in connection with the deaths at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
Haman played football at Arizona State University in 2011.
