A woman has accused former Silicon Valley actor T. J. Miller of sexually assaulting and punching her in the 2000s while they both attended George Washington University.
The woman, only identified as Sarah, told the Daily Beast that she met Miller when they were on the same comedy troupe at the university. While in a relationship, Sarah claimed Miller would carry out violent acts during sex without her consent.
“He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop… I couldn’t say anything,” she said.
Sarah went on to recall an alleged incident that took place in the fall of 2001, months into their relationship. She claimed that one night, while she was intoxicated, Miller “violently” shook her before punching her in the mouth. Upon waking up with a bloodied lip and fractured tooth, Sarah claimed that Miller said her injuries came from a drunken fall.
The woman also recounted an incident in which Miller allegedly choked her and penetrated her with a beer bottle.
“I understand now that this [choking] is for some people a kink, and I continue to believe it is [something] that should be entered into by consenting parties,” Sarah told the news outlet.
“But, as someone who had only begun having sexual encounters, like, about three months earlier, I had no awareness this was a kink, and I had certainly not entered into any agreement that I would be choked.”
“I was fully paralyzed.”
Sarah said that her choking was so loud that her roommates banged on her door to check on her. She brushed them off then returned to bed with Miller, who she says then anally penetrated her and used a beer bottle to repeat the act–all without her consent.
Two of Sarah’s then-roommates told the Daily Beast that they were in the off-campus apartment that night and corroborated much of Sarah’s story. The website also reported that they spoke with the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who said that Sarah confided in him about what Miller had allegedly done.
“She was engaged in student conduct proceedings regarding the sexual assault, and I remember the emotional toll that the assault and the subsequent conduct hearings placed on her,” Sarah’s ex-boyfriend said.
Miller, 36, and his wife, Kate Gorney, posted a statement on social media Tuesday, denying the allegations and accusing Sarah of spreading sexual assault rumors to try and damage Miller and Gorney’s relationship. The pair also claimed that Sarah was ousted from the comedy troupe due to “worrisome and troubling” behavior.
“We are confident that a full consideration of accounts from and since that time will shed light and clarity on the true nature of not only this person’s character, but also on the real facts of the matter,” they wrote in the joint statement.
“We stand together in stating this is nothing more than an unfortunate resurgence of her lies designed to wreak havoc on two happily married people in the public eye.”
