Police are searching for a man who they say strangled a convicted sex offender before dismembering his body and removing his limbs from the home.
In addition to Noel Brown, 69, the suspect is believed to have also murdered Noel’s daughter, Marie. Their bodies were found next to each other in their London home on December 4, the Telegraph reported.
According to The Guardian, police said the pair were strangled and that they’re zeroing in on a person caught on CCTV hauling a large sack. Authorities claimed that Noel’s arms and part of one of his legs were taken from the scene.
Marie was possibly murdered after checking on Noel on December 2 and witnessing the suspect dismembering her father. Detective Paul Monk noted that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence but it’s unclear whether the victims knew their killer.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Harding said that it’s “extremely important” that the suspect is apprehended, according to BBC.
“In my 27 years of policing, I have not seen anything quite like this,” he said.
The detective also mentioned that one or two people were seen walking “back and forth to the location over the course of the three days”–and possibly hours– before police unearthed Noel and Marie’s bodies.
Earlier this month, authorities confirmed that Noel was previously jailed in 1999 for a sex attack. It is not known whether Noel’s sex offender status was a motive for the murders, the network reported this month.
“There has been speculation that his murder was as a result of a large gambling win, however at this time there is no evidence to suggest this was the case,” Monk said.
