An Ohio mother is behind bars on suspicion of murdering her 5-year-old son and burying his body in the yard. She was jailed this week with bond set at $1 million.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the young victim had developmental disabilities and could not verbally communicate.
Authorities launched an extensive search effort, aided by the FBI, after he was reported missing.
Jordan Rodriguez is believed to have died on Sept. 22, but investigators only recently received a tip claiming that his mother, 34-year-old Larissa Rodriguez, along with her boyfriend, buried the boy’s body outside of their home.
The mother of nine was arrested after a search recovered what appeared to be the remains of a young boy with evidence of broken ribs and other bodily injuries, as reported by the New York Post.
As WKYC reported Friday, a report by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner confirmed it was Jordan Rodriguez whose remains were found buried in the yard.
Four of his mother’s other children had been placed in the custody of social workers as of the latest reports available.
Christopher Rodriguez, identified as the mother’s boyfriend, was arrested on suspicion of failure to pay child support. According to reports, it was his brother who led police to search the yard after reportedly receiving a jailhouse call from him confirming the location of the body.
He allegedly told his brother that the couple found Jordan Rodriguez unresponsive earlier this year and decided to bury him instead of report the incident or attempt to seek medical treatment.
