President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law was hospitalized on Monday after she opened an enveloped addressed to her husband, Donald Trump Jr., at their Manhattan home, which apparently contained a white, powdery substance.
CBS News reports that Vanessa Trump was taken to a local hospital along with her mother and another person, as a medical precaution. Vanessa Trump’s mother handed her daughter the envelope. It’s unclear how the other person hospitalized was involved.
The Secret Service agents, who responded to home after the incident was called in, said that an investigation is currently ongoing.
“The Secret Service and our law enforcement partners in New York City are investigating a suspicious package addressed to one of our protectees received today in New York, New York. This is an active investigation and we cannot comment any further.”
FOX News reports that a hazmat team began “decontamination procedures” shortly after arriving to the Manhattan residence.
