A California man saved his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son after her former boyfriend reportedly charged after them with a gun, shooting his ex dead before turning a gun towards the little boy.
FOX News reports that the suspect, 34-year-old Bradley Thomas Woss, reportedly shot and fatally wounded his former girlfriend, Kacey McKinney, 31, inside her Redlands apartment on Sunday morning.
According to authorities, Woss and McKinney were arguing when he pulled out a gun and shot her. McKinney’s boyfriend, who witnessed the shooting, grabbed McKinney’s son, ran from the apartment, then jumped from a second-story apartment balcony as Woss aimed and shot at them. Both the boyfriend and the little boy survived with minor scrapes.
As police searched for Woss, he apparently turned the gun on himself in a self-inflicted suicide. Detectives found him dead at the at Indian Hills Golf Club in Jurupa Valley.
Meanwhile, friends and family spoke out about McKinney, who separated from Woss around two years ago. It’s unclear if Woss if the father of the victim’s child.
“Her entire being is going to be missed so much,” friend Lacie Mallard told CBS. “Her mom shouldn’t have to be burying her baby and having to worry about her other baby. Oh, it’s not fair.”
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover McKinney’s funeral expenses and care costs for the little boy.
