A 45-year-old Pennsylvania man accused of signing out a 16-year-old girl from her school numerous in the past few months, apparently was listed as her stepfather on school documents, and authorities say the teen herself tampered with her documents and added him.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, on Wednesday, police issued a missing persons alert for a Pennsylvania teen girl who disappeared after Kevin Esterly, 45, allegedly signed her out of school, after being warned to stay away from her.
Miu Yu, the mother of 16-year-old Amy Yu had already called school officials at Lehigh Valley Academy Charter School in Hanover Township, Northampton County, to inquire about Esterly illegally checking her child out of school on Monday.

The school’s administration couldn’t confirm whether Esterly was on the list of approved adults to check Amy out of school, but a warrant taken out for his arrest indicated that he checked Amy out of school at least 10 times between November 13 and February 9, without the consent of her parents.
According to New York Daily News, however, Gary Hammer, of the Colonial Regional Police, indicated that Amy listed Esterly as her stepfather, which allowed him to check her out of school. The pair are said to be in a secret relationship that Amy’s family initially had no idea about.
Amy’s little brother, John, indicated that his family met Esterly several years ago during a church function. Esterly became a sort of father figure to Amy, as Miu is raising her children as a single mother. At first, according to John, the family felt Esterly was a nice man simply wanting to help the family out. At some point, however, the relationship between Esterly and Amy reportedly turned romantic.
“My mom was upset and I was upset also,” John told WFMZ.
Esterly is described as a white male who stands 5 feet 9 inches and weighs 185 pounds. Amy is described as an Asian female who stands 4 feet 11 inches and weighs 90 pounds.
The pair may be traveling in Esterly’s red, 2-door 1999 Honda Accord with Pennsylvania license plate, KTL0529. They were last seen close to Amy’s home off of North 18th Street on early Monday morning.
