The former New York City nanny accused of stabbing two young children to death while they were in her care remained emotionless in court as the jury heard horrific details about the killings.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Yoselyn Ortega is on trial for the murder of Lucia and Leo Krim, who died of multiple stab wounds in October 2012. Their mother, Marina Krim, found the horrific scene when she arrived home for a swimming lesson with another daughter. Ortega was reportedly standing in the bathroom with the mortally wounded children, stabbing herself in the throat with a knife.
According to the New York Daily News, a medical examiner testified at the trial about the children’s injuries, including the 30 stab wounds six-year-old Lucia suffered. The medical examiner said that Lucia’s injuries suggest the little girl fought back during the attack.
The girl, known as “Lulu,” “[struggled] to get away from this knife,”forensic pathologist Susan Ely said in her testimony.
“Lucia Krim had her hands up at some point while she was being stabbed,” Ely said.
“In some way they got between the knife and her body during the course of the violence.”
