Texas authorities have discovered thousands of videos of sex abuse against kids, including some that depict torture, in what a sheriff says is the “worst case” of child pornography he has ever seen, KPRC-TV reports.
Police in Coldspring, Texas, found more than 3,000 disturbing videos in a trailer home involving children between 5 and 12 years old.
Prosecutors have charged James Tumlinson, 26, with 3,191 counts of possession of child pornography, in addition to charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child and promotion of child pornography.
His father, Patrick Tumlinson, 47, faces four misdemeanors charges of failing to report sexual assault of children.
A third man, Cody Franklin, 28, also has been charged with aggravated assault of a child.
San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told the television station the case has shaken him and his colleagues.
“This is the worst case I have ever seen in my 37 years as a law enforcement officer,” Capers said.
“It is atrocious to even think that another human being could even be capable of such nasty and grotesque activities,” Capers told the Houston Chronicle.
Investigators thus far have identified and interviewed seven underage victims who are shown in the illicit material, some of which involve torture.
There could be up to 20 more additional victims, police say.
James Tumlinson worked as a plumber and is the father of a young daughter, according to the television station.
He remains in jail without bond, while his father’s bond was set at $40,000.
Franklin, who also appears to have a child, remains behind bars without bond.
